I reflect often on how the prayers of those who have gone before are so helpful to start words for me. It is true in this time when the American church is being shaken. The shaking comes NOT from the culture and some perceived persecution. The shaking comes from the Spirit because the American church is in deep trouble and there is much the Lord has to deal with in our collective lives.
Gracious Father, we prayer for your holy catholic church. Fill it with all truth, in all truth with all peace. Where it is corrupt, purify it (this is where we are right now); where it is in error, direct it (again… BINGO), where in anything it is amiss, REFORM IT. Where it is right, strengthen it; where it is in want, provide for it; where it is divided, reunite it; for the sake of Jesus Christ your Son our Savior. Amen.
