Long Haul Christianity

James 1:2-4 brings us a picture of faith that does not shy away from trials. We don’t go looking for trials, but we also need to understand that trials are not necessarily fearful.

Trials produce the ability to stand the test of time. With that comes maturity. Maturity is understand that all we have in Christ is enough. It isn’t just knowing it with your head… it’s proving it with your life. And trials afford that opportunity.

It is not the absence of trials that makes our faith great.

2 My brothers and sisters, think of the various tests you encounter as occasions for joy. 3 After all, you know that the testing of your faith produces endurance. 4 Let this endurance complete its work so that you may be fully mature, complete, and lacking in nothing. (James 1:2-4, CEB)
