Back to the ancient wells

My life has taken some loops in the last few weeks. Walking through the passing of my dad has been a beautifully difficult path. It continues to be.

In my daily reading of Scripture, which I rely on so much, has become a challenge. I have had the joy of the daily readings from the Book of Common Prayer along with times of plunging into the depths of studying a book of the Bible, which the Lord led me through last year with a new walk through Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, and Colossians.

This time, however, I have felt unsettled. So, for the first time in a few years, I have returned to a list of Scriptures I have called the Ancient Wells. It is a list I have held for many years that contain passages for prayerful study and Lectio Divina I started from Dallas Willard and his teaching. When I am “stuck” I pull this out and go all the way through it.

I am with this familiar friend right now and relishing this wonderful exercise all over again. I am thankful for the leading of the Spirit to keep me refreshed in the Word.

Here is my list.

One observation as I begin in Romans 12 (and have been there three days now): It is such beautiful picture of the fullness of life in the Kingdom of God. If we would allow the Spirit to transform our minds, we would walk in immense blessing no matter our situation in life.
