Weekend reading

After the turkey… after the shopping… plug your brain back in and read/listen to some challenging work.

In this podcast, Jemar Tisby and Tyler Burns at Pass the Mic interview a direct descendant Robert E. Lee. Rob Lee is a minister and has some incredible insight into his heritage, Confederate statues, racist relatives, and more.

I do love football and I love the Vikings beating Detroit on Thanksgiving Day. But the NFL has more problems than the straw man argument of “kneeling.” James K.A. Smith points out that we, as Americans, are truly “kneeling” at an altar we may not realize.

There used to be a day when evangelicals were so deep in a culture war, they would easily call out sexual sin… even the hint of it. Oh, yeah. That was when it was on the OTHER team… Now that sexual harassment allegations are falling on every male house out there, Michael Gerson points out evangelicals are now at a precarious point. It is time to get back to our spiritual roots.

It’s not “light” reading or listening. But… when have you known me to offer that kind of list? 😉
