We Settle for SO LITTLE

26 Jesus answered, “Very truly I tell you, you are looking for me, not because you saw the signs I performed but because you ate the loaves and had your fill. 27 Do not work for food that spoils, but for food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you. For on him God the Father has placed his seal of approval.” (John 6:26-17, NIV)

So much of the time Jesus had crowds following him to see the miraculous. This crowd was even more fickle than that. He had fed them the bread and fish and they followed him around the lake to be with him again.

We settle for so little when it comes to “following” Christ. We will settle for a feeling. We will settle for an experience. We will settle for feeling a little bit better about ourselves.

Jesus thins this crowd out in John 6 by letting them know there is so much more. He offends them so they will just move off if they don’t care to stick around and understand.

Don’t follow Jesus for your own shallow reasons. It’s not about the feeling. It’s not about the experience. It’s not about your appeasement of some feeling. It’s about JESUS being life.

Bread. Blood.

LIFE.
