  • Christmas Eve — Tuning our hearts

It’s my last Christmas Eve service at Heights Church serving as pastor. It took me over 19 years of preaching to finally get a message where the points play off of a word! My penultimate message and I FINALLY get something together using one word!

  • Advent Reading — The Open Door He Sets Before Us

See, I have placed before you an open door that no one can shut. I know that you have little strength, yet you have kept my word and have not denied my name. — Rev. 3:8, NIV

  • Advent Reading — He is our strong deliverer

The Sunday we announced our resignation as pastors of Heights Church, the Lord had me share from Acts 16 when Paul came to Troas. • Advent Reading — Keeping our eyes on the margins of society

Advent is a time of examination. It is to remember the first coming of Christ. It is to anticipate the Second Coming of Christ. This is a season to reflect and prepare.

  • Advent Reading: Not all is set right in this world

Psalm 10 is a stark reminder of the need for Advent. When we seem to think God is standing far off, he is indeed “breaking in” to this world.

  • First Sunday of Advent

Advent is a season to reflect on the first coming of Christ and anticipate the Second Coming of Christ. We’re not great at that. We seem to either ignore the anticipation of the Second Coming, or we work to put fear into people that they will “miss the rapture.” Both responses miss the point of Advent and anticipation.
