Advent Reading: The place of trust

When there is evil in the world, there is a tendency as 21st Century Americans that it is somehow our duty to get rid of it. All of it. Right now.

But what if what is evil doesn’t go away? What if we truly work for what is good and just and it seems that evil still somehow prevails?
Do not fret because of those who are evil
or be envious of those who do wrong;
for like the grass they will soon wither,
like green plants they will soon die away.
Trust in the Lord and do good;
dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture.
Take delight in the Lord,
and he will give you the desires of your heart. (Psalm 37:1-4, NIV)

Our call is not to eradicate evil in the world. We will see the call to do what is just. Yet, if we still do what is just and evil still seems to hang around, we need to walk in trust.

The call is to live in the presence of God. He gives us perspective. He gives us strength. And HE will deal with what is unjust in this world.
