Eastertide is a season in the Church going 50 days to Pentecost. I’ve found I can learn a lot about Advent and Lent, times of preparation, discipline, and repentance. But Christmastide and Eastertide, times of celebration, are not as well walked out in the Church, and, quite honestly, in my life.
Easter can’t be contained to one day!
This season I am on a quest to learn more… and live more.
There are some helpful tips HERE and HERE.
I want to learn, as Richard Foster called it, the discipline of celebration. It truly is a discipline. It can be too easy to get caught up in what to “give up.” It is sometimes harder to spend time in extended celebration. BOTH are needed.
A Collect for the Day:
O God, whose blessed Son made himself known to his disciples in the breaking of bread: Open the eyes of our faith, that we may behold him in the fullness of his redeeming work; who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
