Pharaohs, Pharisees, and Faith

My current reading has me in Exodus and Acts. A quick observation on power and control in my early reading:

Pharaoh and the Pharisees could see their power slipping away, so they resorted to all they knew: fear. Pharaoh tried to bully the Hebrew slaves into staying quiet and submissive. The Pharisees tried to intimidate the church into silence.

When it is time for God to move, it is through faith. It is the process of overcoming the fears, the anxieties, and the intimidation to move toward the true voice of power that is calling.

The Kingdom doesn’t resort to fear tactics to keep people in line. When fear is present, it is the last vestiges of human power at work. It is desperation.

Choose carefully the voices you have in your life. Choose carefully the voice YOU are in the lives of others.
