In four days I leave for another teaching trip to Ethiopia. This is my second journey and I can’t wait to be in this beautiful place again.
As soon as I get back (it’s a two week assignment), we dedicated our new building, ministry, and coffee shop in a special Sunday service.
I love seeing what God is doing these days. There are so many opportunities to be “anxious.” But these are not days to worry. These are days of anticipation. Whatever happens after this wacky election, there is going to be more of an opportunity to learn what it really means to follow Christ. These may be days of testing for the American Church, and in so many ways we seem to be flailing along, but tests come, friends. Tests are proving grounds. We need to know we follow Christ, not a political party, and not even a country. Our allegiance is greater.
Let’s learn from the stories of Joseph and Daniel and Esther. Thrown into other cultures and challenged in their faith, they stood strong. It’s not about what goes on around you. It’s about what is going on in you.
May we all grow deeper in our faith and resolve.
In the mean time… FOUR DAYS TO ETHIOPIA!
