In case you haven’t heard, we’ve reached the end of the world. I find it interesting there is far more interest in the Mayan calendar and how it might be right, while we readily dismiss Christians who regularly predict the end of the world.
So, the end is upon us. Unless, of course, it’s not.
When 2013 rings in and we still might be here… then what?
It’s not about predicting the end of the world that is so vital. The key is how we live until the end comes.
The admonition of Scripture is not to sit and predict the end. The admonition of Scripture is to endure. The call is to stay at it. Finish the race.
We are at the beginning of the year and physical fitness goals abound. By March those goals will be revised or abandoned by most. It’s not about starting well. It’s about finishing well.
You also must wait patiently, strengthening your resolve, because the coming of the Lord is near. (James 5:8, CEB)
But the one who endures to the end will be delivered. (Matthew 24:13, CEB)
Finish well… whenever the end may finally come.
