Slay the hashtag!
The latest hashtag movement: #WeStandWithWDBJ Just like #bringbackourgirls and Kony and whatever else… it will fade away and people will go back to their normal routines and nothing will be done. (NOTE: Kony wasn’t brought down by a hashtag.) Here is how “journalists” can honor the two killed live on TV (and I’m not going to quit using quotes or…

Are we MOVED?
40 A man with leprosy came to him and begged him on his knees, “If you are willing, you can make me clean.”41 Jesus was indignant. He reached out his hand and touched the man. “I am willing,” he said. “Be clean!” (Mark 1:40-41) Indignant. Other translations choose “moved with compassion.” Early in Mark’s gospel we see the action of Jesus and…

What made the religious leaders angry?
I am not very good at goal setting when it comes to Scripture reading schedules. This should be a week when I am on Luke for the second time… or maybe Matthew for the third time… and I’m in Matthew 9 the “second” time around. But, what’s my hurry? As I read through Jesus’ actions and the anger of the…

Good bye “normal” church…
And, quite frankly, good riddance. I can hope, anyway. This post on the future of evangelicals is a good read. It’s refreshing. We are stumbling into new realities. These are things the greater evangelical church should have paid attention to decades ago, but the majority are only now being dragged kicking and screaming into the true reality of Kingdom living.…

The tragedies we don’t bemoan
Two separate mass killings over the weekend… at least. No big details. We probably won’t have any “need” for follow up, but just a quick glance down my Yahoo news feed gave headlines of a shooting in Houston leaving 8 dead and a shooting in Vermont that left 4 dead. Twelve dead in just two separate incidents. And we probably…

Losing sight of TRUE LIFE
When #catlivesmatter gets more headway than #blacklivesmatter, I am really angry.

The culture of LIFE
It’s is incredibly unfortunate that “pro-choice” people are now recycling a quote from Catholic nun Joan Chittister from back in 2004: “I do not believe that just because you’re opposed to abortion, that that makes you pro-life. In fact, I think in many cases, your morality is deeply lacking if all you want is a child born but not a…

Aslan will roar
Forget Cecil the lion on that day. There will be another Lion that will roar. It will be a day when Planned Parenthood can’t duck under ANY kind of media cover.

The gods of our culture and the mark of the beast
I was listening to a teaching on eschatology given at a church camp by one of my favorite all-time teachers. Gordon Anderson has been president of North Central University for many years, but I was privileged to have him as a teacher when I was a student in my undergrad program before his appointment as president. Listening to his teaching…

Imagine this…
Imagine these signs outside a Planned Parenthood clinic and how the media would react. Instead, these signs are outside the office of a Bloomington, MN dentist who probably poached a lion in Africa months ago. Today, Planned Parenthood gives thanks for the Minnesota dentist taking the spotlight further off of their own atrocities.
