Quick thoughts for the weekend

Random thoughts that entered my mind this week:

We honor the prophets… after we have killed them.

I want to stop saying why something “won’t work” and start saying, “LET’S TRY.”

I heard Matthew McConaughey in a podcast and he described a character he was playing this way: He’s looking over the horizon but he’s just never gonna get there. He’s a dreamer. He never followed through.

NOTE TO SELF: Quit being that guy!

And something to chew on: A quote from NT Wright for the Second Sunday of Advent (regarding the hope of God coming as John comes baptizing in the Jordan):

If God was coming back, he wasn’t coming just to tell them that because they were Abraham’s children everything would be all right. The reason God brings rescue and salvation is precisely because he is the holy and faithful God, keeping covenant with his people—but, if that is so, he is bound to bring judgment as well as mercy. He isn’t a tame God. — Wright, T. (2004). Luke for Everyone (p. 33). Society for Promoting Christian Knowledge.

Come, Lord Jesus!
