We are on the road for a few weeks as we wrap up summer. It’s a trip to see family and friends. It also means less time reading, more time listening to audiobooks and podcasts, and then reflecting on them.
My trouble is that I reflect on them in the car and don’t get a chance to write it all down, then when I try to remember… nothing.
The audiobook refreshed my hope.
Though everything changes around us, I don’t despair. There are some who talk about the bad direction our country is heading… or how bad this world is getting… and it’s funny to hear those phrases from different people and know the underlying reasons are so different!
We live with anxiety. Or… this culture wants us to. We need not. Christ can anchor us. Our walk can be in deep mystery, yet full of his light.
This is the reminder I get from writers like NT Wright and Richard Rohr.
His presence is there. He is with me.
I need that on this road trip. We will see people and have conversations and all along the way I will want to keep learning, keep drinking in good conversations, and trying to bless others along the way.
