I grew up in the age of “The Late Great Planet Earth” and “A Thief in the Night.” Two decades later, it was the “Left Behind” series. In college I began to work through my faith and theology and was in my early 20s when I worked to unspool all the bad theology surrounding “the rapture.” Even after that, I will default to some things without much effort.
The Holy Post had two episodes with interviews with Daniel Hummel who gets into the nitty gritty on how the rapture theology started and the deeper implications in our American culture that resulted. If you grew up with that theology and you’re still nervous about being “rapture ready,” this may be an interesting listen for you. Both interviews are about halfway through each episode.
