The Opener

The slow sport begins today. The one everyone I know is tired of or never liked.

Baseball.

There is so much inaction. So much space to look at with too few players. Such a slow pace.

And, dear God, how I love this game. The anticipation of the next pitch. The speed of the action when a ball is hot and every player has to know the exact situation to know what action is needed, and then a subset of actions are needed if an error takes place. The expanse of a field you can actually admire without the distraction of missing a play.

Let’s play ball.
