Two people I am fascinated with in the early narrative of Jesus: Simeon and Anna. Both waiting. Both longing. Both rewarded after decades of waiting.
Simeon, righteous and devout. He lived on the promise he would not die until he laid eyes on the Lord’s Messiah. What joy to hold the baby and declare, “My eyes have seen your salvation!” His longingly fulfilled, and he could see what everyone else was missing in that moment. What a treasure.
Anna, living in the Temple area all those years! Her ministry was prayer and fasting… and waiting. And that day, her eyes behold the hope of Israel!
May the “last third” living I want be full of hope, faith, patience, and deep anticipation!
