We are called to humility

Therefore if you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any common sharing in the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind. Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others. (Phil. 2:1-4)

Culturalized Christianity is in a deep struggle trying to grasp the power they thought they had and hold on for dear life. It raises the ugliness of systemic racism and misogyny again and again in our current time.

The way of Christ is the way of humility. We are called to humility. It is not about power. It is not about “crushing enemies.” The way of culturalized Christianity is about power and being “right” and thus being able to condemn and dismiss what they deem “wrong.”

The way of humility is to follow the One who had everything and willingly laid it aside for the sake of the world. It is not about labeling something “servant leadership” and then serving selfishly. It is about truly laying down our rights and vestiges of power to serve others in the power of Christ.

The way of Christ isn’t about white Western power. We need to be about the glory of Christ. HE is the exalted One. Not us.

Let us live in radical obedience allow God to take care of the reward later.

The Time is Right for Servant Leadership
