But Jacob stayed apart by himself, and a man wrestled with him until dawn broke. When the man saw that he couldn’t defeat Jacob, he grabbed Jacob’s thigh and tore a muscle in Jacob’s thigh as he wrestled with him. The man said, “Let me go because the dawn is breaking.”
But Jacob said, “I won’t let you go until you bless me.” (Gen. 32:34-26, CEB)
I have found my life to be a twisting journey where struggle comes far more easily than rest and resolve.
I am Jacob.
I twist and work my way, trying to bring solutions… trying to bring things into my life that the Spirit will say to me, “That is not your way. That is not the place given for you.”
My life is spent in needless struggle and it is often to the point of exhaustion. Yet, I keep on twisting and manipulating. The Lord will ask, “Aren’t you tired yet?”
Jacob keeps struggling. He can’t win, but he is determined not to lose. Frustration mounts, so he fights and twists harder. Some good things happen, but frustrations and anxiety only mount.
And the Lord will ask, “Aren’t you tired yet?”
I am Jacob.
