The change is in us

Reading for today:

Psalm 56, 57, 58, 64, 65
Gen. 41:46-57
1 Cor. 4:8-21
Mark 3:7-19a

Change in this world is possible because his kingdom has come. That kingdom flows through us. We are the change.

“The world starts changing when the church starts praying.” — Tauren Wells, “When We Pray”

35 Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed. 36 Simon and his companions went to look for him, 37 and when they found him, they exclaimed: “Everyone is looking for you!” (Mark 1:35-37)

It’s easy to be busy. We can even be busy in a productive, life-changing way. But if we don’t heed this lesson from Jesus, we will end up feeling good about only our own work and miss the power of the Kingdom.

The “secret” is prayer. We have to stay in prayer. We can be in constant prayer while in motion. We can also take that time on a regular basis to pause before the busyness heats up again to seek the face of the Father.

Change is possible in this world. I am so deeply stirred about the time we are in right now. There is an urgency growing in me I can’t shake.

And the Lord is constantly reminding, “Listen first. Then act.”

Teach me, Lord!
