Christmas is that powerful reminder that an event that goes completely unnoticed by the world raises up what is eternal. Long after Caesar Augustus. Long after Herod. There is still the Kingdom of God. 

An unwed mother, a couple being displaced for a time, and the world in a bit of upheaval. Here, we find the Kingdom. A Kingdom that will outlast Rome. It will outlast Hitler’s Germany. It will outlast Putin. It’s not about the political power. It is Kingdom power.

²⁸ Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe, ²⁹ for our “God is a consuming fire.” (Heb. 12:28,29)

It is still his Kingdom, and it will come.
