We need more humming. I’ve advocated this for years. The main reason I have done so is make sure I’m not the only one.
Another reason, though, is humming adds a song to my heart. Or, it brings the song in my heart out. Over the years I have inadvertently learned hymns and worship songs, or at least the tunes, and they float in my head. I will often hum a particular hymn throughout the day and often find myself humming and I’m already in the chorus by the time I notice!
Why hum? The Lord puts a song in our hearts. We make music in our hearts to the Lord. When I allow my heart to sing I am on my way to lifting up my soul to the Lord in an almost accidental way.
Music is powerful. Psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs are so essential to helping our minds be renewed. PLEASE somebody hum!
