Living “in the moment” is like having ADHD Christianity
In my particular “tribe” of Christianity, there are good things about the experiential. We really do believe, or want to believe, that we can pray for healing (for example) and healing is possible. A particular “downside” is we tend to live for the “event.” We live for that powerful moment in a church service, a powerful worship song… something that…

I had not planned on raising the dead today
What level of obedience ARE we willing to go to with Jesus? 7 He called for the Twelve and sent them out in pairs. He gave them authority over unclean spirits. 8 He instructed them to take nothing for the journey except a walking stick—no bread, no bags, and no money in their belts. 9 He told them to wear sandals but not to put…

Filled with the Spirit and Speaking in Tongues
I speak in tongues, but I know when I’m not full of the Spirit. We have to keep those two things separated. The realization hits me as I read through Acts again, preparing for my fall class. The Church knew the fullness of the Spirit. What I realized is this: I know I’m not filled with the Spirit when the miraculous is…

Book Review — “Miracle Work” by Jordan Seng
The sub-title of this book is “A Down-to-Earth Guide to Supernatural Ministries.” And that it is. Seng gives a very brief overview of how the miraculous and “power gifts” were viewed through the centuries in Church history, but mainly his goal is to stir a hunger to get into the flow of the power of the Spirit. In a very…

Miracle Work
Miracle Work by Jordan Seng is a down to earth book on healing and prophetic ministry. I am currently working my way through the book. It is about understanding simple faith and desire. We really do need a boldness of simply believing and then walking in that obedience. We need a fresh boldness and desire.

We Settle for SO LITTLE
26 Jesus answered, “Very truly I tell you, you are looking for me, not because you saw the signs I performed but because you ate the loaves and had your fill. 27 Do not work for food that spoils, but for food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you. For on him God the Father has placed his seal of approval.” (John 6:26-17, NIV)…

Ordinary or Extraordinary?
11 God was doing unusual miracles through Paul. (Acts 19:11, CEB) The powerful presence of Jesus has an impact we may not even be able to measure this side of eternity. Do you realize the impact you have in the Spirit? Do you ask for the “unusual?”

The place of the miraculous
The miraculous acts (like healing) do not sustain us for the long run in Kingdom life. That is not their purpose. The miraculous signs are to point us to the One who does sustain us. Miracles are great. Pray for miracles. Just don’t camp on the miracles.

The “No More Signs” Generation
We can’t be pursuing Jesus simply for the signs. We are in pursuit because of who he is. May we not be in the generation where Jesus says, “No more signs.” 11 The Pharisees showed up and began to argue with Jesus. To test him, they asked for a sign from heaven. 12 With an impatient sigh, Jesus said, “Why…

Short Attention Span Theater
30 The apostles returned to Jesus and told him everything they had done and taught. 31 Many people were coming and going, so there was no time to eat. He said to the apostles, “Come by yourselves to a secluded place and rest for a while.” 32 They departed in a boat by themselves for a deserted place. 33 Many…
