Bonhoeffer asked this significant question in the early 1930s. It is one I constantly ask in my decades of following Christ as well:
When will it be that Christianity says the right word at the right time?
There is a concept where the Church is a “step off” at times… in a good way. It just seems out of sync because there are times certain segments of the Church won’t be caught up in the consumerism of the culture.
But there are other times when the Church knows the action to take… and then hesitates. When the world becomes more “spiritual” and is more open to the supernatural, Pentecostals, who should be able to step into that water, all of a sudden want “seeker sensitive” services. Or “apologetics.” Or nationalistic power.
When will the prophetic Church be in place to speak the word of the Lord in season and with power?
