The expectation

My walk in prayer and meditation lately has been a challenge regarding intercession. The challenge isn’t just intercession, but being ready, having the fire of the Spirit and the work of the Cross being effective in my life.

Intercession takes me to Daniel. As I am reading Daniel 2, which is the story of Nebuchadnezzar having a dream and refusing to tell the dream because he wanted a true interpretation, I am struck by this thought:

Daniel expected to hear from God.

Where are our expectations as people of God? Do we default to the regular, “Well, I’m not called to…” ?

Or, do we rise to the understanding that we have a vocation in the Kingdom of God? Peter gives us a reminder of the mandate in Exodus:

But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation,God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.10 Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy. (1 Peter 2:9-10, NIV)

Our vocation is deep and is not “retired.” We are to be priests of God to this world.

Why NOT ask the Lord for the answer and expect to hear him?

This is what is occupying my thoughts currently.
