Happy New Year!

My journey into Anglicanism began years ago as a Pentecostal pastor learning from Lutheran ministers in my town and attending a Lutheran seminary. I am grateful for the streams of faith that bring me along as I follow Christ.

Learning about the liturgical year over the years has been helpful to understand the rhythm of Kingdom Life. This Sunday is the first Sunday of Advent. It is the “new year” for the Church. Advent is a season of longing and remembering. We look forward to Christmas, when Christ first came, and also long for his coming again.

The liturgical year not happening on January 1 is also a reminder that the timing of the Kingdom of God will never match up to the timing of this world. His Kingdom marches to a different time and dimension.

This Sunday is a focus on Jesus coming again. The Scriptures are about longing for him to come. We wait for him. In that waiting, we work. We are about our vocation as believers.

So, HAPPY NEW YEAR!
