I grew up loving missions. I’ve cultivated a heart for those who have not heard the Gospel of Jesus Christ. One of the shock factors I still face in my own life is culturalized Christians in America who see no need to go anywhere else in the world and think if “those people” don’t some to Jesus, they are just hardened. (These are the same people in my current context who think that “reaching out” means you invited someone to go to YOUR church instead of the other church they were already attending.)
So… a prayer for mission from the Book of Common Prayer, 2019:
O God, you have made of one blood all the peoples of the earth, and sent your blessed Son to preach peace to those who are far off and to those who are near: Grant that people everywhere may seek after you and find you; bring the nations into your fold; pour out your Spirit upon all flesh; and hasten the coming of your kingdom; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
