The nourishment of my soul

I have finished Thoughts in Solitude by Thomas Merton. There are some key thoughts from his book that stir my own story.

Nourished by the Sacraments and formed by the prayer and teaching of the Church, we need seek nothing but the particular place willed for us by God within the Church.

This is my story. For years I have come to the place where I have a sense of actual spiritual nourishment from the Sacraments. What has held me in the hardest places of life, and in the biggest transitions of life, have been the Word and the Body of Christ. In these last few years I have intentionally embraced my belief by the practice of joining the Anglican Church and entering into the ordination of a vocational deacon. The teachings of the Church are vital to me.

In that nourishment from the Church I am in a place where I know God has led me. My place within the Church is guided and set for me in a good way. I am grateful.
