Deceived by darkness

34 Your eye is the lamp of your body. When your eyes are healthy, your whole body also is full of light. But when they are unhealthy, your body also is full of darkness. 35 See to it, then, that the light within you is not darkness. (Luke 11:34-35, NIV)

In this Advent season, we remember the people of God waiting in darkness longing for LIGHT to come.

We also wait in our time for the Lord to come again. We also need to examine the possible darkness in our own lives. We may believe we are living in light, but this Scripture haunts me. The “light” I may see may not be light… not saving light. It may be darkness and I’m just fooled that it is light. This is the age in which we live.

Lord, guard my heart. Guard my “sight.” Let your light shine bright in my life. Let the voice of your Spirit ring true in my own life. AMEN.
