O Day of Peace that Dimly Shines

Our church (Church of the Apostles in Montrose, Alabama) had a night of word and worship taking us on a journey from creation to the birth of Christ. It was a night of beautiful, heartfelt worship.

This particular hymn I share below is far too formal in its presentation compared to the way we sang it last night, but I wanted to share the power of this hymn. The words are amazing.

The particular verse pierced my heart and brings me to prayer today:

May the swords of hate fall from our hands, our hearts from envy find release,
till by God’s grace our warring world shall see Christ’s promised reign of peace.

A deep longing fills my heart in this verse. May the Lord truly bring peace in this world. May we, as the Body of Christ, become peace makers.
