If you had a few days left, what would they look like? What do we see in the life of Christ?
He moves through the Temple area.
Jesus entered the temple courts and drove out all who were buying and selling there. He overturned the tables of the money changers and the benches of those selling doves. (Matt. 21:12)
What was to be a house of prayer (and Mark adds “for all nations”) has become so commercialized, it’s lost purpose. People are IN the “house of God” but not with God.
Our lives get cluttered. We can rush through church activities and have our week full of activity we are doing for the church… for the Lord… and miss being with him. Our good activity for God may be so much noise that keeps us from being still and knowing he is God.
We all have activity. We all have needed things to do in our ministries. Yet, in our activity don’t let that be the substitute for being with him. Activity in his name isn’t always done with his strength.
Get back to prayer. Get back to the priority of being with him. Let activity and work flow from being in his presence. Don’t let it be the substitute.
