Rather, you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth. (Acts 1:8)
17 But thank God that although you used to be slaves of sin, you gave wholehearted obedience to the teaching that was handed down to you, which provides a pattern. 18 Now that you have been set free from sin, you have become slaves of righteousness. (Rom. 6:17-18)
The Holy Spirit, above all, is about empowerment for witness. The most powerful “witness” is the transformed life. Too often we think of “witness” (as believers) as something we do.
We “go witnessing.”
The call is to be witnesses. The transforming work of the Spirit, molding us into the image of Christ is the most powerful witness. Our call is to be transformed.
