Failing to live in the river

There are statements from time to time that come right to the heart and do some hard surgery. Today was one of those times when I was listening to a clip from Jack Hayford. He was addressing a Vineyard conference and had a word from the Lord that was encouraging them to stay humble and hungry for the activity of the Spirit.

These words cut into me and I’ve kept them in prayer (and will keep them in prayer): There comes a time when you decide whether you’re going to live in the river or just know the map of where the river is.

Do I truly want to be Pentecostal and understand the true power of the Spirit in my life, or do I just want to read about it and be able to affirm some nice things from Acts?

This one will stick with me for some time.
