A couple of verses from Proverbs 14 and quick thoughts:
Laughter can conceal a heavy heart,
but when the laughter ends, the grief remains. (v. 13, NLT)
I think of this one as I grieve today over the news of a college student who died Monday night. I knew him from classes he took from me and can remember a couple of conversations we had along the way. Today, I will have conversations with other people and will have a good time in a couple of meetings, but in between I feel grief. When laughter ends, sometimes grief hangs around.
Only simpletons believe everything they’re told!
The prudent carefully consider their steps. (v. 15, NLT)
This one reminds me of my Facebook challenges. It is so easy to believe what is being passed along. Then, if you try and correct what is being passed along, it doesn’t always go well. We need more discernment in our lives.
