For the first time in a long time I ventured out to a movie theater with my youngest son, and figured out why I don’t go very often. It’s too expensive!
We did see Man of Steel, and I thought it was a fun movie. Some quick observations.
1. Superman is a Royals fan. That may ultimately doom the planet, but it certainly would be doomed quicker if he were a Cubs fan. I’m glad he landed in Kansas.
2. I had no idea how many “name” actors were in this movie. They just kept popping up!
3. It was a nice nod to Christopher Reeve in a couple of scenes where it was blatantly obvious this Superman had a Christopher Reeve “adjustment” in the CGI. Maybe it wasn’t intentional, but they should take credit for it anyway.
4. Five Guys Burgers really are good. That has nothing to do with the movie. (Although it could have for all the product placement that went on in that movie.) We went there before the movie and it really lived up to most of the hype.
5. It was too long. There was a point where I thought, “Good grief, ANOTHER scene of fighting and destruction?” It was probably the directors saying, “No, we want to the wipe out the OTHER half of Manhatta as well!” for a 2.5 hour movie, it was easily 20 minutes too long.
