Give Us This Day

One of my daily practices is to wake up saying the Lord’s Prayer. As I begin to move around in the morning, I try to remember to slowly walk through the prayer and stop on key phrases so I can meditate more. It settles my heart and on anxious mornings when my mind is racing with things to do or bills to pay I am quickly settled into a mode of thankfulness rather than nervousness.

This morning it is “give us this day our daily bread.”

He is our “manna.” We have what we need for today. He is enough. I will not lack. I may not have an “overabundance” (in my own view), but I will have enough. His presence in my life is enough.

One response to “Give Us This Day”

  1. Today, as my twenty one year old daughter left for school, I prayed God’s protection over her, and surprised myself when I prayed ” give her this day her daily bread, and cause her eyes to look up and see You as her source and her Salvation.” I had never prayed the Lord’s prayer for someone else, but today I did, and it comforted my soul.:)
