Passion

But I have this against you: you have let go of the love you had at first. (Rev. 2:4, CEB)

Letting go of that first love, that deep passion, can cost us. We drift into life as a rut. We just do things to get by rather than live with renewed passion. In Hebrews the author talks about “not drifting away.”

We don’t just “quit God.”

We drift away.

Passion dies off. The flame is not cared for in our heart.

There is a daily walk with Christ that simply needs to happen. There are days that walk may seem almost “mundane.” But if we continue that walk, if we continue that conversation, there are those incredible times of flaming love we sense in our hearts.

Renew that love. Revisit those passages of Scripture that stir up your deep love for Christ.

Here is my list of “Ancient Wells.” These are the passages the Lord has used over the years to stir my heart again:

Romans 12:1-21

I Cor. 13
2 Cor. 3:12-7:1
Gal. 5:22-6:10
Eph. 4:20-6:20
Phil. 2:3-16
Phil. 4:4-9
Col. 3:1-4:6
I Pet. 2:1-3:16
2 Pet. 1:2-10
I Jn. 4:7-21
Micah 6:8
Deut. 10:12-21
Matt. 5-7
Rom. 8
Renew the passion. You may have your own list. You may have a familiar routine that ignites passion. Do not lose that first love.
