Sin

I just got done reading, “The Smell of Sin.” Great read about the topic of sin and the gravity of it. He talks about sin and how it means, “off the mark.” Off the mark can mean a non-purposeful missing of the mark. We try and try, but we just aren’t perfect and will miss it from time time. The CRAZY thing about sin are those times, like you say, that we intentionally miss the mark. The author compares sin to an archer, as both deal with aiming for a target. Sin, is when we are off. The author challenged the reader to imagine an archer purposefully missing the target in a competition. We can’t imagine someone in competition intentionally missing it. If they miss it, it was unintentional and they are crushed and practice and train to not miss again. This is where we need to be challenged. We miss the mark, but the scary thing is when we fail to correct that and choose to continually live in a way that misses it. Jesus words, “it would be better to…” Sin is serious and to be negligent with it is serious and has eternal consequences.
