I love the story of Simeon. He was one who had anticipated. He was waiting. He had heard from God and knew each day was a gift.
This could be the day he would finally see Messiah!
Imagine living on that day. He wakes up, makes his way to the Temple, and finally, on that day, he lays eyes on the One. The Spirit speaks to him and his heart leaps. This One.
28 Simeon took Jesus in his arms and praised God. He said,
29 “Now, master, let your servant go in peace according to your word,
30 because my eyes have seen your salvation.
31 You prepared this salvation in the presence of all peoples.
32 It’s a light for revelation to the Gentiles
and a glory for your people Israel.” (Luke 2:28-32, CEB)
Simeon was gifted to be able to look around the corner. He could see what was ahead.
All those years of waiting. Finally, he comes to this day.
All of his anticipation, his waiting, his praying, his listening, has paid off. Imagine that.
Yes… imagine. Imagine living in anticipation of what that would be like. Waking up and thinking, “He promised one day I would see him in fullness. He promised one day he would be back for his people. Is today that day?”
Yes… imagine.
