Via Rick Mansfield, who secretly still loves the TNIV (just kidding!), comes the news that the NIV2011 will be available ONLINE this November 1. Good news!
I still use the TNIV for my church’s public reading and my own preaching. Nothing else has matched up. I am anxious to see what has changed.
I worry that the new NIV is going to screw up a pretty good TNIV translation over the politics of gender roles. At which point, I’ll fly my mainliner colors and return to the NRSV. Eat that, Zondervan. 🙂

I don’t think they’ll screw it up. But even so, there’s no such thing as a perfect translation. I’m sure it will have its problems, but I expect it will be one of the very best overall once again.
