I just received Bloesch’s book on The Church in an order I made online. Thinking of his recent passing, I wanted to take up the task of reading through his seven volume series on Christian Foundations. From the very beginning, his writing resonates with me. As I go along, I will share quick points on my blog.
Here is the challenge just from his introduction:
Theology at its best has perceived that logos and praxis, Word and Spirit belong together. Doctrine without devotion is empty; devotion without doctrine is blind.
Where does one study theology best? For Bloesch, it’s not the university. It’s the church. THIS is why I do what I do!
