Triumph Through Tragedy

We enter into Holy Week. The triumphal entry is celebrated today. The triumph only seems to be in the people shouting “Hosanna!” that day. Jesus is determined.

He looks over the city and weeps (Luke 19:41).

He enters the Temple courts and trashed the place (Luke 19:45).

People are excited about his zeal, yet he knows the tragedy that lies at the end of the week. They won’t be so excited then. We still aren’t. Evangelicals and Pentecostals still have a hard time getting our minds wrapped around the seriousness of Good Friday. We often skip it because the Resurrection is so much more important to us.

Enter into this week with a sense of what lies ahead… on Friday.

If you are part of our church, I invite you once again to our community Good Friday service. It will be at First Lutheran Church from noon to 3 p.m. Come aside to reflect on the tragedy that will lead to the triumph.
