  • We are shoved around by fear

Fear raises money. Fear drives hasty decisions. Fear brings deep divide. Fear is the currency of American politics. And American politics is our new national religion.

  • What has formed you?

I am breezing my way back through a great memoir, The Pastor, by Eugene Peterson. What a gentle book to remind me of life and calling! Peterson grew up in a setting familiar to me when it came to church. His story resonates deeply in my life, at least until he went to college.

  • Spiritual amnesia

A marvelous little book that has had a tremendous impact on me in this stage of life is Falling Upward by Richard Rohr. The book is a call to recognize the fullness of the reality of God that is truly in us.

Psalm 23 unfolds for us the radiant abundance of the Shepherd who provides for us life without lack. “We are blessed to live in a world where there is a fully self-sufficient, generous God who wants to provide what is best for us and loves us more than we could ever imagine.” — Dallas Willard, Life Without Lack

  • The truth of the Kingdom of God

I was on a personal retreat this past week. The Lord had me take a hymn with me along with passages of Scripture. The words of this hymn drilled deep into my soul. All my struggles are nothing. His kingdom is FOREVER. Focus on the PROMISE not the PROBLEM.
