Prayers for the world
Upheaval in the Ukraine. Upheaval in Israel. The deep complications. I am deeply thankful for prayer, and for the prayers of the Church! A collect for the world from the Book of Common Prayer 2019: Eternal God, in whose perfect kingdom no sword is drawn but the sword of righteousness, no strength known but the strength of love: So mightily…

The beauty of written prayers
My journey into the Anglican Church has given me the gift of prayer in a different way. I still love praying in an extemporaneous way, but I’ve benefited from the prayers of those who have gone before.

Our comfort in grief
I am currently reading through Job and it is a fresh read using the New Living Translation, which isn’t my normal translation. It’s helped me stay engaged. This reading is also helping me remember different places where I’ve heard teaching or sermons and this particular passage from Job 23 was one:

My confession — times I just don’t pray well

The transforming work of prayer
I finished up another trip through Richard Foster’s book, Sanctuary of the Soul: Journey into Meditative Prayer. What a refreshing read! The reminders at the end of his book are well worth repeating and soaking in.

Feast of St. Barnabas
Grant, O God, that we may follow the example of your faithful servant Barnabas, who, seeking not his own renown but the well-being of your Church, gave generously of his life and substance for the relief of the poor, and went forth courageously in mission for the spread of the Gospel; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns…

Pentecost Sunday
Almighty God, on this day, through the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, you revealed the way of eternal life to every race and nation: Pour out this gift anew, that by the preaching of the Gospel your salvation may reach to the ends of the earth; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you, in the unity…
