We’ve been awhile on the road and I am looking forward to getting home in another week… even if Alabama is stupid hot. I was able to get out of that heat for almost three weeks, so I rejoice. And I will glad to be home as well.

The simplicity of the gospel
On our road trip, we’ve revisited Simply Christian by NT Wright on audiobook. It has helped reset my mind as I long more and more to be anchored to Christ. A book I picked up for the trip (physical copy of a book) is Salvation by Allegiance Alone by Matthew Bates. It is similar in approach.

On the road
We are on the road for a few weeks as we wrap up summer. It’s a trip to see family and friends. It also means less time reading, more time listening to audiobooks and podcasts, and then reflecting on them.

It just IS
Last third living is more contemplative. It is more open and moving toward rest. It is broadening, not restricting. More toward forgiveness, less toward dividing.

Richard Rohr’s book, Falling Upward, is part of my core list of influential books at this time in my life and certainly my top three as I consider what I’ve called “last third living.”

A marvelous little book that has had a tremendous impact on me in this stage of life is Falling Upward by Richard Rohr. The book is a call to recognize the fullness of the reality of God that is truly in us.
