What does street ministry in San Francisco look like?
Sometimes like this: But, for me, I found my own kind of audience that seems to relate very well with me:

We Found Vinton Street in San Francisco
If you are a fan of the show “Monk,” you know the running street name is “Vinton.” Just about anything that is happening with a street name is happening on Vinton Street. We were touring China Town in San Francisco and FOUND Vinton Street. Here is the sign: And here is… wait for it… the street:

Scariest Thought About the Tenderloin
As we leave San Francisco, we have joy in our hearts. God is doing such an amazing work in the Tenderloin district through wonderful ministries like City Impact. Here is the scariest thought, though. What would this place look like WITHOUT the salt and light of the Church? It’s rough now. It’s a bit scary now. But without great people…

Garbage
Every city has its garbage dump. They have a place where they want to sweep most of their problems and how it stays mostly in that area. My city has it. San Francisco had it. Every city has a place they hope to contain their problems.

Fear of the Lord is the START of Wisdom
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom; all who follow his precepts have good understanding. To him belongs eternal praise. (Psalm 111:10, NIV) Holy respect is always a good start. It keeps me from thinking of God as my “beer buddy,” or some other inane term we like to think of when we want God to just like us…

The Fall of David
2 Samuel 11 David’s “great sin” was not simply having an affair with Bathsheba. It was compounded by murdering her husband. It was driven by covetousness. All that he had as king… and he wanted one more possession. The question I have on this story, along with Nathan’s rebuke, is this: Does David seem to “give up” after this? He is…
