Heroes and saints

Years ago I was pastoring a small church in the Twin Cities. One time the nicest lady began coming to our services and she jumped right in to help. She loved missions and learned we did, too. She had been praying for a specific missionary for years while attending another church and then learned we supported that missionary. She was thrilled when she finally got to meet that couple as they came by our church. A couple she had prayed for by name for years simply because the Lord gave her that name to pray for!

Ida was special.

She joined our board and was always ready to serve people. The picture I share here is Ida on our leadership retreat getting ready to zip line with a group of us. She had just turned 80. That was Ida.

She went skydiving at the age of 91.

She lived life to the fullest… and she lived it fully for Jesus.

Ida was special.

I learned of her passing last week. I wanted to note her life because she will forever be one of my heroes. And she is certainly a saint.

  1. Thank you for sharing Ida’s story with us. One Day soon we’ll get our chance to meet her.

How fun it will be in Glory to meet and spend time with our earthly heroes and also to meet and spend time with people who thought of us that way too.

    Soli deo gloria!
