When Elon Musk was finalizing the takeover of Twitter last year, someone asked me what that meant. I said, “It’s the owner of nuclear dump site buying a dumpster fire and saying, ‘I can make this better.’”
Powerful people can’t help themselves. They buy up avenues in which they want to “say things” and then feel like it’s protected free speech somehow. That’s not what happens and “X” (formerly Twitter) is simply becoming a nuclear dumpster fire.
David French writes about the antisemitism raging through the social media platform and Musk has the audacity to yell, “FREE SPEECH!” as his defense.
We have allowed more than an “uptick” in hate speech in the past decade. It’s spiking up. And it needs exposing.
