Spiritual amnesia

A marvelous little book that has had a tremendous impact on me in this stage of life is Falling Upward by Richard Rohr. The book is a call to recognize the fullness of the reality of God that is truly in us.

The early church and early church fathers saw the vision of what God was truly calling us to. We are called to participate in the divine nature (2 Peter 1:4).

The Eastern Church still has this high view of humanity. The Western church developed amnesia. The Western church became future-oriented, product-oriented, and developed a win-lose worldview.

This little book helps remind me that I am part of the divine nature. My calling is greater than I can imagine. His work in me is deep and wonderful and I can know his presence here. NOW.

Heed the gentle call to wake up.

  1. Well, Dan, if you want to know the whole truth about it . . . I’m a mess. Looking back, I think that I’ve been a mess all my life with some blessed periods of un-messiness along the way. Oh, I’m a “saved” mess, for sure, but still a mess. And I’m 67 years old, so, although I keep trying both in believing and in doing, the prognosis from here on out until Glory, I guess, is more mess until suddenly I’m not when I see my Savior face to Face.

    1. On the other hand . . . THANK GOD for The Blind Boys of Alabama who just reminded me to LOOK where He brought me from! https://lousyhaiku.blog/2023/08/07/lousy-haiku-160/
