Every morning I try to make my habit be a prayer. As quickly as possible when I’m awake I focus on either Psalm 23 or the Lord’s Prayer.
Similarly, John Stott, who pastored in England was a very influential scholar, began his day with a prayer to the Trinity:
Heavenly Father, I pray that this day I may live in your presence and please you more and more.
Lord Jesus, I pray that this day I may take up my cross and follow you.
Holy Spirit, I pray that this day you will fill me with yourself, and cause your fruit to ripen.
Day by day. Line upon line. Precept upon precept. May the character of Christ be formed in each of us.
